Call Your Insurance Company. After you are assured that the professionals are on the way, make sure you notify your insurance company and open a claim. Your insurance company may give you specific information regarding exclusions or limits, so be sure to take notes.
Document. Document. Document. If it is safe and you have time to do so, go ahead and take pictures or video of the damages. Be sure to take photos of any individually insured items like heirloom rugs, furniture, or artwork. Try to take the photo with the entirety of each room or area in the shot. These photographs are for your file and may be referred to later, if necessary.

If you prefer not to have your items removed from your home, you have the option of the cleaning to take place on-site. Please ask us about the possibility of this if it is important to you.
